G.WIZ Blivas Science & Technology Center

Sarasota, FL - The 2002 Award of Excellence, presented by the Florida Association of the American Institute of Architects, was awarded to Carlson Studio Architecture for their "use of modern elements and courageous design "in transforming the former Selby library bayfront site into the interactive G.WIZ Science & Technology Center. By creating long triangulated spaces throughout the facility, adding a new glass prism ceiling as a dramatic focal point and completely demolishing and redesigning the existing interiors, the design team creatively converted the building into a visually inviting and stimulating center for learning and exploration.
